Hello, Beauties! If you’re like me, you’ve been “losing weight” for more years than you’ve not been losing weight.
But it has never been the only thing I was doing. One reason weight loss is so slippery is because
Weight loss is only ONE of the things you’re doing.
In some cases, losing weight is the thing you’ve been at the longest.
I’ve been losing weight longer than I’ve been married.
Longer than any job I ever worked.
More years than two of my kids have been alive.
That’s the catch-22 we get trapped in. Kids and jobs and chores and spouses are all in play simultaneously with losing weight. Keeping all those moving parts in motions tends to take you one of two places:
- all parts of life are working well.
- one section on life supports another and feeding yourself well feels easy
- everything is hard and takes longer than it should
- food gets a ton of focus because it is something you can control – read overanalyze!
The solution you’ve been offered is “lifestyle changes”. It’s a great intellectual idea but . . . it takes time! and patience! Both of which are in short supply when you just want to see the scale move to validate all the extra effort you are using to pay attention to you.
I teach my private clients how to pivot from one to the other seamlessly so that they can stay connected to their weight loss efforts long enough to create the lifestyle changes.
Consider that word: PIVOT
It implies that you always have one foot firmly planted and only need to make small corrections to stay in play.
~When life is calm, you maximize practicing the food and life changes you want to become permanent.
~When life gets stressful, you give yourself grace for things beyond your control and look for opportunities to pivot back to calmness.
Pivoting replaces starting over. It is natures way for things to ebb and flow, to expand and contract.
~What if that’s what you expected from weight loss instead of expecting yourself to be perfect?
~What if you understood why you “cheat” instead of just beating the crap out of yourself for “cheating”?
That’s where magic can happen. Knowing yourself so well that you can stay connected to yourself and the things important to you no matter where life takes you!
