Hello, Beauties! I love teaching the difference in the results you achieve based on how you think. In this case the chasm between “I want to be committed vs I choose to be committed”. Want keeps you a victim of circumstance. Choice restores your power.
I want to be committed
I choose to be committed
Now apply those definitions to commitment – specifically commitment to taking superior care of yourself and to losing weight.
Wanting to commit is at the mercy of outside forces. It’s the reason you fail at diets. When you control all the variables, you make progress. But the reality of having company or a bad day or going away for the weekend tests your commitment to the breaking point.
Choosing to commit is wholly internally based. When you choose to commit, you find ways around the roadblocks that are sure to present themselves. You hear it described as grit, perseverance, and resilience.
It sounds too simple, right? Change one word in a sentence and get a completely different result.
That’s how powerful your mind is at processing language.
Your brain hears you say I want to commit and immediately starts bombarding you with all the reasons it will never work. That’s not a bad thing. Your brain is functioning as designed. It uses your previous experience and wisdom to make decisions, even if the result is being stuck going round and round in frustrating circles.
On the other hand:
Your brain hears you say I choose to commit and immediately goes into problem-solving mode. Such a drastically different response. Choosing engages your wisdom, your experience and most importantly your dreams to find a solution. Even better, it triggers your determination not to give up.
The weight loss results you’ve achieved so far are not a mystery. You make decisions based on what you believe. Beliefs are just thoughts you’ve practiced thinking over and over until they seem like non-negotiable facts. Your mindset – the most practiced way of thinking – is fluid. If you’ve always been negatively bent, you can learn to CHOOSE to think differently. It is the most wonderful thing about brains. They just want you to be successful.
Find some stillness and listen to your intuition.
What commitment are you ready to make?
Treating yourself better?
Stopping negative self-talk?
Eating whole foods?
Because commitment supports making decisions that leave you head over heels in love with your beautiful body, it no longer needs the weight you are carrying.
and put “I’m CHOOSING to commit!” in the Subject line.
