Hello, Beauties! Are you a persistent person? Or do you give up easily? Is persistence important to your weight loss journey? Knowing HOW to Feel Persistent when frustration shows up is key to permanent, sustainable weight loss.
Persistence implies continuing firmly or obstinately despite difficulty or opposition. A second definition denotes continuing to exist or endure over a prolonged period. So, let’s learn
How to feel: Persistent
So often when trying to lose weight, you focus solely on results. What does the scale say? But this approach creates a major impasse. When results don’t happen fast enough or seem random based on the effort you are exerting, you often either give up or stall out; getting stuck in procrastination.
By shifting your focus – and by extension your thinking – to the process of releasing weight, you can leverage the tool of persistence in your favor. Go back to the definition: continuing obstinately despite difficulty.
Obstinate: stubbornly refusing to change one’s opinion or chosen course of action, despite attempts to persuade one to do so. That definition made me chuckle since it’s usually your own mind that is trying to persuade you to change course.
When you know HOW to feel persistent, you get curious.
You adjust variables one at a time to see what shifts your body embraces. You become a scientist, a detective, an observer of all things YOU. Your body is a machine. It will respond to having your attention.
Be aware, though, perfectionism tends to show up in this space. While purposely controlling one factor at a time to test, your brain begins to think it can control ALL factors. Weight loss results from multiple factors, some you can control, some you cannot.
For example, you can control you. You cannot control the rest of the people in your world. You can control the food you ingest, you cannot control hormones. You can learn to control your thoughts – a major weight loss component – but you cannot control automatic thoughts from appearing.
Enter the skill of non-judgment. Judging yourself means feeling disappointed, guilty or ashamed of your sincere efforts to befriend your body and figure out what it needs to thrive. The result: binge eating and then calling yourself a failure.
Embracing this trio: persistence, curiosity, and non-judgment gives you the keys to the kingdom of reaching your healthy weight and then living there effortlessly.
I’d love to show you in real time how these tools work. I am using them in my own journey every day and am currently sharing them and my weight loss process in my private FaceBook group. I’d love to have you join the bigger conversation that is happening there.
You are so ready for this work. Every time you’ve ever lost, gained, lost again, given up, lost focus, restarted has perfectly positioned you for this leg of the journey. I am so looking forward to meeting you.
Love you my Voluptuous Beauties!
