Hello Beautiful! How important is “this” for you to handle right now? Wait -What is “this”? On the surface, “this” is losing weight. Going deeper “this” is taking crazy good care of yourself. And at the root, “this” is about connection. How important is weight loss to you when life gets chaotic? Can you give yourself permission to stand down? Do you trust yourself not to procrastinate jumping back in at the first opportunity?
How important is this for you to handle right now?
Weight Loss Fatigue is a real thing.
Losing weight, dieting, exercising, deprivation, resistance.
How much of your mind space do they occupy?
How far back does your weight loss history go?
A year? 5 years? More?
It’s often the first thought I have in the morning and the last thought before I go to sleep.
So, it’s no surprise that consciously acknowledging and owning that weight loss is not your top priority right now feels like undoing all the work you’ve done in the months before.
The voices in your head flood you with failure and fraud stories. Those stories are where your work starts. They are connected to all the stories of how you sincerely tried to lose weight in the past only to lose focus and/or regain the weight you lost.
You feel guilty for giving yourself an excuse. Like you are letting yourself off the hook.
What if that is a thought error?
An assumption your brain makes based on your history?
Let’s challenge that assumption!
Newsflash: Just because you think it does not mean it’s true.
For example, recently my friend said to me recently that weight loss just wasn’t her priority right now.
My reaction to her thought was: “What a brave thing to admit out loud!”
Remember, your thoughts create your beliefs. Your beliefs drive every decision you make.
Expect doubt and fear to show up.
You do NOT want to override this factory installed, hard-wired aspect of being human.
Doubt and fear function as a protection mechanism; warning you of possible danger.
Like a bad backseat driver, doubt and fear second guess your intuition.
If you’re feeling like weight loss is just not a priority right now, nothing has gone wrong.
Practice acknowledging what is instead of resisting.
Trust yourself to plug back in at the first available opportunity.
Building trust in YOURSELF is the first tool I teach my clients. Moving weight loss to a lower priority for a time does not equal weight gain. You can stay plugged in and present in every moment simultaneously.
