Hello, Beauties! Are you courageous? Do you desire to embrace courage? Does it scare you? Would choosing courage make a measurable difference in your everyday reality? I embraced the opportunity to choose courage this week and use my voice to be seen. Here’s what happened when I decided to:
I live in a small place, Port Isabel, Tx. It’s my favorite time of year. Tourist season just ended. Things slow down. Getting together with friends takes on an even sweeter tone. Friendships run deep here.
So, I showed up at a party to celebrate the 40th birthday of one of my tribe. I knew 75% of the people in the room. I had NO plans to engage someone new. But, someone new had plans to engage me.
Enter synchronicity! You’ve probably experienced synchronicity at least once. It’s the Universe’s way of taping you on the shoulder and reminding you of what you “said” was important to you. I always pay attention to duplicate information coming to me from diverse sources.
It is a powerful tool when coupled with intuition, inspiration, and desire. Here’s how it played out that day.
I was already two weeks late having new pictures taken for my website. The deadline for showing up with pictures in hand was September 1st. My twin habits of perfectionism and procrastination ensure missing that deadline.
Who do I meet at this party? A local photographer! He introduced himself to me and we had a wonderful conversation. I walked away with his business card and a renewed resolve to have the pictures taken.
A beautiful side effect of that meeting was a light bulb moment. Not only did I meet someone new, I allowed him to meet me. It makes me smile even now remembering my willingness to be open to sharing myself with a stranger.
Do you allow other people to meet the REAL you?
Think about that for a minute. Do you put on the mask of who people expect you to be? Or are you brave enough to be just you? What if they really like the real you?
The real me is opinionated and sassy. I speak to strangers easily. My one dimple shines every time I smile. I’ll gossip with you about current affairs but I’ll never say something in a whisper I’d be ashamed to say out loud.
In retrospect, I feel proud of allowing myself to be seen. It is an act of courage to open your heart, be seen and have zero control over how the other person responds.
Do you waste all your energy trying to hide in plain sight?
Do you dive into a bag of chips to soothe the awkwardness of being vulnerable?
Fear of being seen is one of the top three fears humans experience.
Learning to give yourself permission to be all you all the time means you never have to eat to soothe yourself again. That is the beginning of permanent, sustainable weight loss.
I’d love to show you in real time what it looks like to let go of fear and embrace courage. I am currently sharing my food journals, my weight loss process and the practiced thoughts that show up to sabotage me in my private FaceBook group. I’d love to have you join the bigger conversation that is happening there.
You are so ready for this work. Every time you’ve ever lost, gained, lost again, given up, lost focus, restarted has perfectly positioned you for this leg of the journey. I am so looking forward to meeting you.
Love you my Voluptuous Beauties!
