Hello, Beauties! Deprivation is the killer of weight loss. What if that is 100% true? I’m inviting you to consider the possibility that the way you’ve lost weight in the past failed in part because it required you to let go a particular food – or in some cases entire food groups.
Deprivation is the killer of weight loss
Accepting my premise may trigger your cynicism. Nobody wants to sign up for deprivation BUT when you are trying to lose weight, it is just part of the equation. Right???
It reminds me of some of the diet commercials currently running on TV. Their claims sound too good to be true and my mind tunes out. I refuse to be fooled one more time getting my hopes up only to spend my time and money to go into a gigantic frustrating circle resulting in ZERO pounds lost.
Deprivation boomerangs on you every time.
This is why deprivation never works.
Deprivation requires you to give up foods you have an emotional attachment to; foods you use for comfort or celebration or boredom or anxiety.
You could go a lifetime and never have Fritos again UNLESS that is the coping tool you’ve used for years.
Think about the last time your “favorite” food was not in the house when you needed it or when you were attempting to lose weight and it was off limits.
Your brain goes wild as all those emotions used to being pushed back down as you open the bag of chips now rise to the surface. Like two devils sitting on each shoulder, you argue why you can make it another hour without it. Equally loud is the voice on the other side chanting go get it and you’ll restart tomorrow.
No diet plan ever asks you to give up chicken breasts although you could probably do that much easier than giving up Fritos. You have no emotional connection to chicken breasts.
It feels like a Catch 22 and it is the major reason you procrastinate feeding yourself well. You are not ready to give up your favorite foods.
So, back to my original invitation.
What if it’s possible to lose weight without deprivation?
Even more brashly, what if I told you I could guarantee you results?
Would you set your skepticism aside?
