Hello, Beauties! Cheating is impossible when you trust yourself. I’m still on my soapbox about the offhanded way women trying to lose weight call themselves “cheaters”. It is so invasive that you hardly notice how often it crosses your lips. Is cheating on a diet a given? Unavoidable?
Cheating is impossible when you trust yourself
Imagine someone sitting next to you at a social event blurted out, (Your name here) is a cheater! No context. Just a matter of fact statement. How would you react?
Words like outraged and incredulous come to mind. It attacks your integrity, your loyalty, your character. You would never speak that way about another human being yet you speak about yourself that way as if it is no big deal.
Consider that contradiction in your response:
Another person labeling you a “cheater” is offensive. It is character assassination. You have legal recourse to make them cease and desist. Just speaking the words – true or not – damages your reputation. Zero toleration for that kind of behavior.
BUT . . .
You labeling you a “cheater” has lost its sharpness. It seems inevitable. Worst of all, it keeps you stuck in a big old circle of shame, guilt, and sabotage. It’s that circle that has you eating kale and chicken breasts for weeks. Bravo, except you know you’re only one meal away from a setback; eating a hamburger, pizza, and fried chicken in a 24-hour binge.
Are you a cheater?
Debunk that thought – you create it inside your head.
Put it in the other contexts of the word cheat. Is it true? Are you a cheater?
Would you PLAN to cheat on your mate? On a test? In a financial transaction?
Can you even cheat with an inanimate object?
Trick Question because every person who’s ever dieted lives for “cheat” day.
You double down on the sabotage and PLAN to cheat.
The result is in addition to pizza you also ingest a side order of shame.
Cheating – in the context of losing weight – is driven by deprivation.
